Spiritual Values

The main idea of this program is to make the public aware of the Orthodox Christian spiritual centers that are at the same time historical monuments, already restored or under restoration by private companies, charitable citizens and patrons. This is a vivid representation of good initiatives: the recent ruins are now rebuilt, and restored temples are visited by prayerful people who seek support, assistance and tranquility. Visitors come with children, they pray for our ‘blessed country, its people and warriors’. At the same time, a number of charitable companies is presented, on the one hand, to mention their contribution to the restoration of sanctuaries, on the other, to show how many different companies are involved, as a good example demonstrating the united efforts of businesses in preservation of the Russian spiritual foundation, restoration of sacred Christian buildings, traditions and values.

During the recent decade, would have all witnessed a truly miraculous time when sacred places of the Russian land have been restored: cathedrals, monasteries, town churches… Today’s patrons and charitable citizens are successors to the age-old Orthodox traditions of Russian entrepreneurship: thanks to their efforts, hundreds of cathedrals and monasteries have been rebuilt and restored in recent years. Unfortunately, the economic crisis triggered by the global recession also affected this country forcing many patrons and charity givers to suspend their activities or dramatically decrease financing of such projects.

Not only the church, but numerous government officials and public activists now maintain that the current economic troubles root in the spiritual crisis of our modernity. At the time when the society needs spiritual healing and support, creation of spiritual centers such as numerous Orthodox cathedrals and churches is becoming a priority. We mean restoration not only of the walls but of spiritual centers as a fool concept. For ages, Russian people came to their cathedrals and monasteries asking for help by prayer, for advice and protection. That's where they found new knowledge, hope, spiritual strength and the feeling of unity. That's what helped Russia and the Russian people to survive and overcome endless calamities. They are our history and our traditions. By preserving them with the help ourselves to overcome the hard times we are going through.

It is now of great importance to redirect people to Russia's historical spiritual centers, and to make people see that efficient collective effort is possible to restore the values of the Russian history. We need to urge the business community, patrons, the government and citizens to continue with the good deeds, emphasizing the significance of the efforts of the recent years. To this end, in June 2008, the Saint Spiridon of Trimifunt Foundation, established and active with the blessing of Alexiy, the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia, with the support of POMOSCH insurance Company launched the ‘We Can Preserve the History’ social awareness campaign.
