Emergencies and Accidents

None of us is immune to emergencies.

The most common emergency types include the following:

Emergency on Water

According to the RF Ministry for Emergencies statistics, in June 2007 alone 1,353 accidents were registered on water nationwide, resulting in 1,548 casualties and 1,032 fatalities.

Fires

Since the 2007 fire season beginning, 7,819 fire cases have been registered nationwide, affecting the area of more than 500,000 ha.

Natural Disasters

In June 2007 in Russia, 29 natural emergencies were registered, eight of which were caused by gale winds and thunderstorms.

These emergences interrupted life support to more than 1,000 communities with nearly 880 thousand total population, leaving 65 injured and 4 dead. During the same period, 2,297 fire cases occurred in Russia, affecting over 156,000 ha, including 121 major fires spreading over more than 109 thousand hectares.

Emergency on Water

From the beginning of 2007, Russia has registered 5,148 accidents on water, resulting in 4,232 fatalities.

Road Accidents

172,857 traffic accidents have been registered since the beginning of 2007, with 15,247 fatal cases. In 2008, the Russian Federation had 2,146 emergencies, including 1,596 industrial, 161 natural and 37 biological and social by origin. 4,441 individuals died and 7484 were injured in the emergencies.

RF Ministry of Emergencies rescue crews managed to save 3,033 human lives.
