Awareness program to support Russian culture. The awareness program of the Ministry of Culture and Mass Communication to popularize Russia's historical and cultural heritage. Transformation of the Russian society and the economic reforms nationwide could not but affect the nation's cultural life.

During the recent years, the state persistently reduced its support to the national culture, and as a result, cultural influence on the Russian society is dwindling, just as influence on shaping positive guidelines and value orientation of the citizens. The National Polling Center polled 1,600 persons in 100 cities and towns of 40 administrative regions in Russia. Sociologists report that negative attitudes dominate in all age groups, but a direct dependency has been traced: the younger the respondent, the more positively they view the current state of culture, the older the respondent, the more they tend to idealize the culture and art of the Soviet period. But on the whole, everyone understands that the society's interest in spiritual values must be resurrected, without which all material wealth is meaningless.

The culture of our multiethnic state is so varied and diverse that its value is beyond comparison. Our culture is centuries old. Protection and promotion of cultural values is the function of the state and the society as a whole.

The awareness program of the RF Ministry of Culture and Mass Communication to popularize Russia's historical and cultural heritage is designed to raise the cultural level of Russian citizens, primarily the young generation, by making them aware of the national cultural tradition. Key objective of the cultural awareness program is to instill cultural values in Russian citizens. One example is demonstration of famous works of Russian artists through street advertising. For this purpose, the program has posters displaying paintings by the most celebrated Russian artists, and other treasures of the national culture.
