One Third of Social Ads in Moscow to Go for HIV Prevention

Moscow City Duma is to vote a bill ‘Prevention of HIV-Caused Disease in Moscow’; if enacted, the legislation will spend one third of social advertising funds to promote healthy lifestyle and HIV prevention, RBC Moscow reports.

Moscow’s city government intents to instruct all mass media in the megalopolis to have at least 35 percent of social ads given to the HIV problem and promotion of healthy lifestyle, RBC Moscow remarks as it describes the document to be considered by the city Duma.

It is expected that the project will receive financing from the city budget and from private and corporate donations.

The authors of the bill explain that as much as 50 percent of infection cases now occurs through sexual intercourse, thus going beyond the risk group that traditionally included only drug addicts and rape crime victims.

‘In this connection, it is highly important to make the citizens aware that responsible behavior may help to avoid contagion. In fact, it is a question of promotion of good family values and moral relations’ emphasizes the agency.
